Just over a year ago my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Canada. We visited Lake Louise for a week and Banff for a week. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. We did all sorts of silly stuff… Like dog sledding.
While we were there, we came across a store in the Banff Springs Hotel called the Qiviuk Boutique. They have the most beautiful knit wear. Most of it made from the undercoat of muskox. Which is called… Qiviuk. It is beyond soft, extremely warm, and really expensive. You’ll see if you check out the Qiviuk online store. So I just admired until I found a surprise in the back of the shop. They sell qiviuk, alpaca, and other yarns! The pure qiviuk yarn was about $90 a ball. Ouch! But they had blends at a more reasonable price. I was so excited!! Not only did I find something I could actually afford in the boutique, it happened to be yarn!! I bought two balls of a qiviuk blend which consists of 15% qiviuk, 80% merino, and 5% mulberry silk. It is beautiful.
I also bought some alpaca yarn.
Now, what do I do with these yarns???? I was thinking about possibilities. Perhaps a pretty lacy scarf, hat, maybe a headband? The bright colors would make good flowers and embroidery… What do you think? Any ideas? They are pretty small amounts so I am limited in that respect. Which is fine by me… I enjoy smaller projects anyway. I appreciate any links to patterns, ideas, or blogs. Even advice if there is anyone who has worked with this type of yarn before… Or just say hi! I like that too.
